The Theory
Explain this on route to a Thera Hole
- Wormhole space is the spooky place with no stargates or local collectively known as J-Space
- Normal space is called Known Space or shortened to K-space
You have to find wormholes by scanning cosmic signatures in order to find them.
- Link to scanning video in fleet chat: Scanning video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK0rn2DJHLg
- WH’s can connect to K-Space or can connect to J-Space
- Just like High-Low-Null Sec there are different classes of J-Space
Class 1-6
- Class 1 has lowest risk- lowest reward
- Typically only connects to highsec
- Class 6 Highest risk - highest reward
- Pretty much all class 6 space is owned by the WH cartel (not an actual organization)
- Special WH
- Thera is only WH with stations.
- Discuss what shattered systems are.
- Discuss what Drifter holes are.
When on grid with a wormhole entrance, right click on the entrance and click on show info. This will give you information about the wormhole. There are 4 sentences in the information.
The first sentence talks about the type of the wormhole. These will be of the following format:
- Unknown = C1/C2/C3
- Dangerous Unknown = C4/C5
- Deadly Unknown = C6
Every J-Space system has at least one static connection
- Statics will always connect to the same WH type, but the system is random
- There are also Wandering connections these connections are random but different classes are only capable of certain wandering connections.
- The Group of systems that are connected by a series of wormholes are typically called the Chain
Usually 2 different groups found in wormholes
Day Trippers
- Day trippers can be hunting for PVP targets, or doing some convenient high pay PVE.
Residents
- Typically have one main WH and many “bear” holes that they krab in.
- They could be doing PVE, or hunting for targets in their chain.
WH Characteristics
4 Sizes gauged by text in description.
“Only the smallest ships can pass through this wormhole”
- Practically unrollable
- Only frigates, destroyers or specially fit HICs can pass through
“Up to medium size ships can pass through this wormhole”
- Very difficult to roll
- Unplated nestors, battlecruisers and smaller ships can pass through this hole.
“Large ships can pass through this wormhole”
- Rolling them is pretty easy
- Max individual ship mass is 300m
- Battleships with higgs anchor and a MWD will reach up to 298m mass with no other modules.
- There is a bug(exploit?) That you can jump through the WH over 300m mass but goons are bad at eve.
- Basically using armor plates and higgs rig have cold(light mass) at just shy of 300m mass. Initiate jump through, same server tick turn on MWD you are now 350m mass.
- Game checks whether you are allowed before you jump, then calculates mass after you are through the hole.
- Battleships, orcas and smaller ships can pass through this hole.
X-Large
- Difficult to roll due to the sheer size, but not impossible.
- Max individual ship mass comes in different sizes
- Thera holes are 1b max
- This is to allow freighters but not caps.
- Otherwise, all ships except for titans and supercarriers can pass through this hole.
Wormhole Stages
3 Different stages of a WH in relation to mass - the third sentence tells you how much mass has passed through
- Fresh - Over 50% - Text clue = Not yet had its stability
- Shrink - Between 10% and 50% - Text clue = not to a critical degree
- Also sometimes called half mass OR reduced
- Critical - Less than 10% - Text clue stability critically disrupted
- Also sometimes called Verge of Collapse, VOC, second shrink
- Wormholes can be between +10% or -10% of total mass.
3 Different stages of WH freshness
- Not yet begun to decay
- More than 24 hours remaining
- Beginning to decay
- Between 4-24 hours
- Reaching end of life
- Less than 4 hours remain
- Dissapating into the ether
- ~15 minutes or less
Talk briefly about polarization that prevents you jumping through a wormhole in the same direction twice within 5 minutes. Once in in system for a whole, get everyone with scanners to scan down a Thera Signature and warp to the hole. Talk people through as needed and point to the WTF 202 for scanning training.
Link them to the Thera Bookmarks folder and tell them to save it. This is a good time to stress the importance of players saving bookmarks whenever they enter a hole.
Link them to the Webway for the Imperium tool for finding/plotting wormhole routes: https://goonfleet.com/index.php/topic/322528-the-webway-the-imperiums-wormhole-trackingrouting-program/
Once out here in Thera you can either do some hunting or head on home answering questions.
