Asteroid Belts

Asteroid Belts are "static" locations, meaning they appear on your overview, and if you save a location inside them, it will still be in the belt when it respawns.
Back in the days, I used to save 3 locations inside a belt: Left, Centre, and Right. That way I could warp with my Retriever and have ore in sight without waiting to reach the next rock.
They represent the most traditional form of mining in Eve Online.
With recent updates, asteroid belts have undergone significant changes, but the basic principles remain the same. The lower the security, the more valuable the ores are. In some regions, however, they were entirely replaced by Depleted Asteroid Belts (DABs)
High-Security Space (High-Sec)
- Availability: Found in nearly every system.
- Contents: Primarily Veldspar, Scordite, Pyroxeres, and Plagioclase. Some systems with lower security (like 0.5) may contain other minerals such as Kernite and Jaspet.
- Risks: Frequent spawns of "Belt Rats" (Frigates and Cruisers). The primary threat, however, is player "Suicide Ganking" as belts are easily accessible.
Low-Security Space (Low-Sec)
- Availability: Common, but often neglected due to risk.
- Contents: Adds Jaspet, Hemorphite, and Hedbergite. These belts are essential for gathering "mid-tier" minerals like Isogen and Nocxium.
- Risks: No CONCORD protection. Players can be attacked freely, and "Rats" here are tougher, occasionally appearing in larger groups and bigger ships (up to Battlecruisers).
Null-Security Space (Null-Sec)
- Availability: Increasingly rare. Many traditional belts have been removed or depleted in favour of dynamic anomalies.
- Contents: Historically contained high-end ores (Arkonor, Bistot), but current distribution is heavily dependent on Sovereignty Upgrades and Celestial Bodies.
- Risks: High-level "Rats" (including Battleships and rare Capital spawns). However, the biggest danger comes from the Hostile Player.
Wormhole Space (J-Space)
- Availability: None. There are NO static Asteroid Belts in Wormhole space.
- Context: Mining in Wormholes is done exclusively through Cosmic Signatures (Gas) or Cosmic Anomalies (Ore/Ice) that must be scanned down or found in the Probe Scanner.
Pochven
- Availability: None. Similar to Wormhole space, Pochven lacks traditional "static" asteroid belts.
- Context: Resources are found in specialised Ore Anomalies that often contain Abyssal variants of Asteroids.
Other Locations
- Abyssal Deadspace: While not "belts," small clusters of asteroids can be found inside Abyssal filaments. These are temporary and disappear once the filament timer expires or the pocket is cleared.
