Fireside Chat Transcript 2025 10 25
Asher Elias:
Hello friends? Hello. Hello. Hello, hello, hello.
Ranger Gama: So, guys, Asher's having trouble with his push to talk. I'll make sure to let him know he needs to fix it.
Asher Elias:
Shut up dude. What up guys?
Ranger Gama: Llama, Asher lies all the time, man. You should know that.
Asher Elias:
Dude. What are you? What are you undercutting me for here, Ranger. This is a week of celebration.
Ranger Gama: Faros. Really? You're accusing me of being a troll. Oh, that's fair man.
Apple Pear:
A nine toll troll.
Ranger Gama: Oh. Just did you see now that.
Asher Elias:
That's a low blow all the way down to.
Ranger Gama: Yeah. Yeah.
Asher Elias:
Yeah, dude, I'm pretty hyped. Dude, there's, there is some funny stuff going on in the state of the game right now.
Will we scale down to 20 crab systems too? Yeah, I, I'm gonna talk about that. I'll for sure be talking about that. Yeah. I'm glad some of guys picked up on that. I'm definitely gonna hit it. How's sumo going? Next one start up.
Ranger Gama: Asher, did you hear that crabs aren't worth the effort? Wow.
Asher Elias:
It is on my notes for sure.
Alright, friends, let's start this off. We just crested over 600. Appreciate you guys showing up on the weekly fire side.
All right, so if you have not heard, Pandemic Horde is changing their stager, this is not a rerun. This is not a repeat. We are, they're yet again, moving their entire alliance. I wanna shout them out. They ran a lot of propaganda about how one SIG evicted Brave, and forced them to move. And I wanna shout out our SIG of eight dudes, one lady and 23 Zungens for forcing the entire alliance of Pandemic Horde to move stagers. That's hilarious, dude. Sorry. 28 Zungans. Okay.
Ranger Gama: If I may, guys. In Elysium there, X up if you two are a Zungen Alt.
Asher Elias:
We're all Zungen alts on this blessed day.
Ranger Gama: Excellent.
Apple Pear:
I see a lot of people who are not Zungen alts. People know what to do when they're not Zungen alts and it's not.
Ranger Gama: Yeah, there's some true Zungen alts there in the chat.
Asher Elias:
So. Yeah, so Horde is re-staging. They have been moved by one SIG, took them a couple months. They held up for a couple months before they were forced to restage. Good job to them. Well done. Golf clap to you. We've seen some cope on Reddit. If you aren't the Reddit reading type, good for you, but the horde guys have been saying that, you know, actually Crab beacons aren't even worth running guys. There was a good post on the Eve subreddit about Horde now only has 20 systems they can run Crab beacons in. And their response was that Crab beacons actually aren't worth running. As Merkelchen said to me, their response is basically, yeah, guys, only virgins run crab beacons. I mean, come on. So didn't really want those crab beacons anyway. There's like an Aesop's fable about this, isn't there? Anyway. Hell of a time. We'll go back to that more in Q and A. I gotta talk about some other stuff. Yeah. E-SOP. That's where they moved to. I love that sani. E- SOP. It's their fabled home system.
All right. Just a reminder, guys, we have daylight savings time. It is happening over the next few weeks. Euro will change first and America changes the next week, I believe. So if you are in a place that participates in daylight saving times or not. The fireside and the meetings and all that are just based around US time zone. So yeah, you're changing tonight in the UK. There you go. Tonight for EU. I would be happy Sauna if they got rid of daylight savings time as well. But either way, our meetings, the stuff are anchored in US time zone. So this meeting, this fireside is 3:00 PM Eastern US time zone. So if you're Euro, it'll change next week and then should jump back to the same time the week after or whenever we hit daylight savings time and so that means next week it'll be an hour earlier, but only for that week as Kaz has just typed. So just be aware. I know some of you will be like, what? It's early, but yeah. There you go.
And all right, announcement. We have another incursion spawn in Insmother, but we are farming hard and we'll be doing it during the weekend, except when, you know, strat ops are up and as time permits.
And then, I dunno if you guys have heard there is a bunch of new mining changes, apparently you'll be able to crit rocks now. So if you want to go out there and get critical hits on a rock, you can do that in like, what is it coming out in a few weeks? Am I gonna give mining a try? I've actually done a lot of mining, but, not recently. I'll probably try again.
And then we have added the Maelstrom and the Svipul to the to the skills planner. So if you want to click on https://skills.apps.gnf.lt/plans we have them in the skills planner.
Speaking of rocks, next weekend is Locust weekend. That's, uh, 10/31. So if you want to get your rocks off, there will be a ton of stuff to do. Stickz, thanks for doing that along with the emotes that you copied by accident, well done. There is the link https://skills.apps.gnf.lt/plans there you go. And next weekend is Locust Fleet. That's 10/31. Ton of crock to suck next weekend. If you guys wanna get rich and make a lot of space money.
After this, after the fire side, I got a lot of talk about. After the fire side we are doing a capital training op. The test server is up. Guys, if you have not really had a chance to run your capital, or even if you had go get a refresher, go on the training op. There are going to be capital fights in the future. Don't be the person who doesn't know what they're doing. You like, oh, I don't wanna go on the training app. I'll just do it later right? And then you just never do it later. Don't be that person. Just go on the training op. It's fun anyway, like, it's a lot of fun. It's not like, you won't be given a test, you just go and do cool stuff. Right. So yeah, learning how to use fighters, it's not the most intuitive system actually. So go ahead and play with it.
Kazanir:
For fucking real.
Asher Elias:
Yeah. Okay. Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday. You guys are gonna be given the greatest opportunity of managed democracy has ever given you and that is the right to vote exactly as the state tells you. Now I'm going to tell you something that's gonna blow your mind, but Mr. Gobbins over there in Horde is being a sneaky little guy. He has been telling his dudes to resub because we are going to attack them this month. This is what he is telling them, like he doesn't know anything. He is just, he is making shit up. He has told his guys to resub because they made them move their stager, their unanchoring M-J, which is like their, I wouldn't say 1DQ, but like 1DQ light. Right. So it's, he's basically forcing his guys to resub. He is giving them every reason to do it or get punished. So they are going to have a ton of Omega accounts. This is not an accident. The way to counter this is, I know it's annoying, uh, but just get out there and vote. Vote with every Omega account you have, we will be doing the exit poll. We want to see bigger numbers than we saw last year. We are trying to get a lot of people on the CSM. I'm going to go ahead and paste in our ballot here.
Zintage Enaka
Hyprviper1
Angry Mustache
Youngpuke2
Rots Mijnwerker
Dujek Oneye
Yilifaerr
The Oz
Ariel Rin
Drake Iddon
You will be given, you know, it'll be on the exit vote. You'll be given plenty of chance to click it. You'll have to just set it up and then go through all your accounts. It should be saved for each account. Once you do that, sorry, bear me clicking. There you go. There's our ballot.
Apple Pear:
Rich is one thing you can do if you really want to sub your Alpha account and like help with that. For like $5 you can buy a weekend pass for like three days of Omega. So that's one way to do it. It's not something that we encourage you to do, but because we're not Gobbins. But if you want to do that by yourself, that's all you.
Asher Elias:
Yeah. So if you have something that you've been wanting to use your account for Omega for, and you want to do the weekend pass, which I think like Apple said, I think it's actually less than five bucks. If you want to do that and you want to time it so that you can do it during the vote, we'd appreciate that. We're definitely not gonna request it, but we'll point out that it can be done because we would love to have the votes if we can get them. We feel like our enemies are going ahead and doing everything they can to force people sort of in an underhanded way to vote. So we're just going to make it as clear as possible why you should vote, why it's important. The CSM is not a game development crew. We aren't gonna try and send these people and then have them tell CCP how to develop the game. CCP doesn't really work that way. What they do, and this is more important, is they stop the dumbest ideas, right? They stop the dumbest ideas. This is what the CSM has done for a long time. We've got ex- CSM people in here. Brisc is in here. You know, Kaz is about to be term limited. These guys can tell you that their most important role has been what they have got done, but what they have killed, right? And so if you care about this game, and I know you do because you're here for a space meeting on your Saturday, and I appreciate that. So go out there, vote and vote with every account. I have eight accounts I'll be voting with. It's annoying, but once you have the thing set up on one account, it's just logging in and logging out, the ballot will be saved and you can do it for each one. Okay. I'm gonna, we'll be broadcasting a lot. We'll be pinging a lot, expect a lot of it. We're doing it 'cause it's important. We know how important it's, okay, so that's a really important thing to do starting this Tuesday.
Heidi ZXC:
Also, as Sapphira has pointed out, if you have been doing your daily rewards on your alpha, all of those buttons that you have clicked so far are retroactive. So if you do do the Weekend Warrior Pass, you can get all those rewards on that character.
Asher Elias:
Oh, cool. Yeah, that's good. That's a good shout. Okay. I want to talk about Horde is moving. We are encouraging you guys to shoot their Cynos. If you go to the Alliance Chat MOTD, there is a job where you can get paid for killing a recon. If you have not clicked it when, this is stupid, I know, but if you've not signed up for that job when you killed a recon, you don't get paid. I think it's, I think we're paying 200 mil per recon, plus other bounties that we offer. So go to like log on your character, click in the alliance chat MOTD, and click on the thing and sign up for the job in case you get a recon kill. If we miss the particular system Nations, we'll try to get it added. Yes, and please kill the hostile recons. This is something we do have to tell Goons.
Apple Pear:
Say there's link to specific systems. So like if you kill a recon in that system in their fleet, then you get paid.
Asher Elias:
Yeah. We have, we've listed the systems that they're likely to be moving across. The recons in those things will get you 200 million ISK. It's also just super annoying to them, which is, you know, another reason to do it. So that's really important point. So yeah, basically like, man, I don't wanna, you know, dance too much on anyone, but these guys are doing a huge own goal here. And it's, you know, one goon SIG and some other pressure, but I highly credit Zungen and the Black Ops lads for what they've done. Like it's crazy to move an entire alliance because you've been annoyed by one SIG and I know there's a lot of cope coming out. I know crab beacons never mattered. Only virgins run crab beacons. It's pretty fucking hilarious. You know, these are the times where, you know, we are having like some awesome fights. Like if you were in that Maelstrom fleet yesterday, we actually punished them. And that's been going on for a while. You know, they're making their own mistakes. Enjoy these moments. There's a lot of fun moments. If you've been here for the bad stuff. Take a moment to enjoy the good stuff. This is part of the fun of EVE Online. Just the stories, the funny stuff that happens, talking with your mates about, you know. Like, Hey, this is a really funny thing to happen. I can't believe they're doing this, chatting about how dumb they are. Just enjoying, you know, being a crew, having fun, like I love this EVE Online stuff. I love when we get to do fun stuff like that and appreciate it. So hope you guys do too.
Let's go to questions. You've got questions. Go ahead and put 'em in the chat. I, we'll try my best to answer them for you. Comment for Kazanir. I'll let him read it and if he wants to comment, he can. I don't think he'll though.
Kazanir:
Oh, oh no. I do. Actually, this came up and I still have to reassemble some of this, but I sent a ping a couple days ago, because I was doing some historical research for, indeed, a CSM side quest, trying to dig up information about how Star Wars Galaxy's industry system functioned in its original form, which if you are keeping score at home, star Wars Galaxy launched the same time as EVE 2003 to 2005 and then in 2005 Star Wars Galaxies dramatically changed a lot of stuff and, but so the original is what we were looking for, but I was not, I was doing something else in those particular years. So my normally comprehensive knowledge of all gaming history is missing for that specific time period. So please feel free to send me a DM on the forms, Jabber, Discord, whatever. If you wanna talk about that, if you can remember anything, I would love to do that. I have a bunch of oral histories that I'm compiling. Thank you for reminding me.
Asher Elias:
There you go. All. So with Horde falling back, are we allowed to burn Etherium Reach and the Spire says Kaminar. Yeah, definitely. You're allowed to burn it. We'll, of course be continuing to attack them. That's why we're here, right?
Aoife is your birthday coming up? Happy Birthday.
Earth and Beyond. That was a, like a game that was like really popular for like six months. I remember everyone talking about it and then it disappeared.
Status of the Init versus FRT war. Good question. The Init versus FRT war is is a time zone war, right? And these guys are not yet ready to fully commit to attacking each other in the other time zone. So maybe it ends up like a wet fart. Who knows? I don't know. You know, if you guys have been involved in those before, you know they're hard to prosecute, right? So, you know, we'll see what happens.
Asks if we can add the Horde crab beacons to a kill list or is that possible? I don't know if it is, I'll look into it.
With Horde's retreat do Goons march on? So like Horde have basically centralized themselves. They made a mistake where they placed themselves, then they made a mistake again, and now they feel like they're rectifying it. I don't really think so. It's still a giant regional to cross, so I don't wanna make it seem like, you know, there's, you know, we can just waltz in there and take the space, like they can defend it much better than we can get into it. So if you're not a map reader, I understand like that might not, but yeah, there's these giant, super long gates that go into Horde space and so because of the way drones is set off from everywhere else, it's essentially impossible to have capital support, which is what matters in a lot of big fights. And so they still have that they, but they move themselves a mid away, which makes it a lot more uncomfortable for them. And the stuff that we've been doing already with them being in direct range will be even more effective now that they're a mid away.
When Gobbins flakes on Horde to join Goons, will he be allowed to run Crab Beacons? I think Gobbins, you know, I don't know the man but you know, I've obviously paid attention to him for a very long time and I think he has a lot of, he takes a lot of pride in being the leader of a successful organization, so. I do not believe, I know you're just joking, but I don't believe he'll be joining us anytime soon.
Is there a way to get PAPs for Reddit posts? Yeah, you need to join our internal propaganda group. We obviously, we give billions of plex away every day for posting on Reddit.
So Asher is it time to run more crab beacons? I know you like them risky. I haven't run crab beacons for a while. Yeah, I might pick it up for a bit here. It's worth noting, and I think I've been saying this, but you know. The times where you'll be able to rat every day and mine every day will be ending sometime. We don't know the day or the time when, but it will be coming. So when you know time is fat, you should be putting stuff away in your larder, you know, getting, get fat, be that grizzly bear that you always wanted to be and you know, get ready for when you're gonna have to withdraw on some of those fat reserves. There you go.
I don't think we have the technology to do that. I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure we can't, unfortunately, do something like that.
Snipereagle1:
That's how we set it up the last year and maybe the year before.
Asher Elias:
Beautiful. All right.
Snipereagle1:
Yeah, so as soon as you, and you have to like, you have to fill out the exit poll and say, I voted, and that's what flags you to not get pinged again.
Kazanir:
Right, that will take you out of the opt-CSM, group.
Asher Elias:
Insidious asks, so you know those shit heads that declare war on alliances just so they can gank Jita and such, they've just mass declare and blah, blah, blah. What do we do about that? I mean, the structure gets killed eventually. How do I get involved with them blowing their shit up? You can, they will just re- declare in a new group. Like there's no, you know, there's no getting rid of cockroaches. You work around them, you know, you can't destroy them. So if that makes you happy and you want to do that, then like, go ahead. Just be aware that you're tilting at windmills. The way the mechanics are set up, they cannot be effectively, they can't be stopped. So, you know, we work around them and they, honestly, they have very little effect on us. Like, I don't think there's ever been a moment where we've discussed in planning anything about, high sec interdiction, people in high sec just don't matter to us in that sense. So it's not a concern, but if you want to go and try to find a group that does it, I guess so. I wouldn't recommend it. There's a lot more cool things to do in this game than shoot morons in high sec who will just not care about it.
Yeah. Ron McIndustry is, you're pointing out something that maybe not everyone knows, he says, but there is always someone in highsec knowing Goons and we could come and help them. So that is like a very classic thing and I'm glad you brought that up, Ron McIndustry, because like we are this like boogeyman of highsec, like if you ever go on like a high sec alt and talk to someone, they will threaten them saying, I know goons or I'll call goons like, this happens all the time when we just don't get involved. But yeah, it's pretty funny because that is like a real thing.
Hellraiser says, can we have a highsec holiday? Like Gank Day? Hellraiser, we have had such holidays before. In fact, many of them called Burn Jita. The mechanics are not as good as they used to be for that. It is not as good. It also takes a lot of effort from a very small group of people and it tends to burn them out. We're working on other stuff, so burn Jita's are cool, but I don't think there's gonna be any in the near future. You know, we're not gonna burn those people out. And we have other things that we want to do. I think it's pretty clear what our trajectory is guys. I've been very obvious as what you should be doing, how you should be preparing and Burn Jita is not part of our trajectory.
Mark Watney Space Pirate The Eighth says Asher, I want to get into the Black Ops Sig, but following the forum post steps doesn't work. Have they closed down to the public process? I know a few people get in every now and again Mark Watney Space Pirate the Eighth, but I don't know if they've looked at you in particular Mark Watney, Space Pirate The Eighth. It's just, yeah, it's opaque, I guess. But they do recruit new people every now and again.
Tarial says, Asher, I love the irony of CCP calling their mining focused expansion catalyst might be foreshadowing to undo some of the ganking nerfs for the last years. I agree with you, Tariel, that that I found it also interesting they called it Catalyst. I don't think that they will be actually undoing any ganking nerf, you know ganking is cool. It's fun and I think it's an important part of the environment, but it is probably one of the things they get the most complaints about and they do feel like they lose players to it. So. I don't think they're highly incentivized to actually make ganking any easier. It's one of those things where it's a lot like squeaky wheels, people who get ganked, like there are a lot of people who join this game, who are not used to the idea that, you know, they're not perfectly safe. Right. And so I, you know, I don't think there, like Jason says, he is pretty familiar with this. I don't think that there will be buffs to ganking in, you know, in the near future. I do think it's actually good for the overall health of the game. But you know, we've seen people in every realm of life make decisions that are maybe short term good or you know, publicly good, but actually bad for the ecosystem.
Yes, I was saying that Crabs are not worth it anymore. That is what I was informed by Pandemic Horde now that they only have 20 Crab systems and have been forced to redeploy their entire alliance because their Crabs were getting interdicted. So apparently they're not worth it anymore. Apparently they didn't want those beacons anyway. And can I have your beacons exactly.
How do I actually get SP and isk on singularity applied to caps so I can join for the training session? So on singularity, things are generally super cheap. There is like a little, there is like a trick you can do to get a lot of isk, but they're usually.
Stickzability:
They have large scale injectors that are on the market. You just buy the skill books.
Asher Elias:
Yeah. So yeah, even if you don't have the skills, you can still do it on SiSi.
All right. I think it's time to go and do that op. I think those are really important. So apparently skill injectors aren't this time. No, that's unfortunate. Alright, either way, go ahead and hop onto the training op guys and I will see you all next week and we're gonna have a really fun week. So I'll catch you at all next time. Please remember to vote. Have a happy Halloween and have a excellent time.
