RIFT

RIFT (website) is a multi-tool for EVE Online.

Downloading

RIFT is available to download for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

RIFT is capable of displaying a pop-up alert, playing a sound, or sending a push notification to your mobile device in the event that various

Setup

Once installed, RIFT will need SSO authorization with EVE Online's ESI. You should authorize each character from each account.

LOG IN with EVE Online

You'll need to repeatedly press the "LOG IN with EVE Online" button in the top-left of the Characters window, and follow through to your browser to log in to the EVE Online's website and then authorize each character.

The Characters window also shows a list of your characters, their jump clone locations, and the implants in each jump clone.

Intel

There are several ways that RIFT can provide intel.

  1. . Monitoring In-Game Intel Chats
  2. . Monitoring Killboards

Intel: Monitoring In-Game Intel Chats

RIFT can monitor in-game intel channels for player names, ship types, and system names while filtering out messages which aren't intel-related. Intel found through this will be displayed on the Intel Reports window as well as in RIFT maps.

Prerequisite: EVE Online to Log Chat to File

Ensure that EVE Online settings are configured to Log Chat to File.

Configure RIFT

There are two steps to configuring RIFT to read the in-game intel chats.

First: ensure that RIFT knows what folder EVE Online saves the chat logs.

How to Configure RIFT's Chat Log Monitoring

After you've configured that, you'll need to manually tell RIFT what chat rooms correspond to which regions on the map. You can find a list of our intel channels, and their corresponding regions, here.

Once you've configured those, RIFT's "Reports" will start populating and you'll start to see new reports on the RIFT maps.

Intel: Monitoring Killboards

RIFT will associate kills found on killboards (such as Zkillboard.com) and attach extra information to things shown from the chat logs found in-game, as well as on RIFT's map. This is particularly useful to know when hostiles are killing things (or being killed) but weren't reported in an in-game intel chat.

Maps

RIFT's map is pretty cool. It shows a 2D map (which is easier for most people to read) and can overlay several pieces of information (usually better than the in-game map).

In particular, it can overlay your character icons (multiple, if you're multiboxing) and icons of players who were reported in other systems which lets you quickly visually see how far away enemies are. It's also capable of showing, for example, which systems have storms or sansha's invasions, jump ranges (handy for titans, blops, or Beehive), and much more.

Jabber

RIFT is also a jabber client. To use RIFT as a jabber client, such as to receive alerts about directorbot or delve911 pings, you'll need to log in to Jabber.

Once you've logged in, you'll automatically receive messages from directorbot. But you'll need to join delve911 to be alerted of people asking for help before an FC starts a fleet.

  • Username: you can find your username at the top-left of Goonswarm ESA page.
  • Password: your ESA password is not your forum password. If you do not remember your ESA password, you can reset it on the Goonswarm ESA page.

NOTE: joining the delve911 chat room will allow you receive delve911 chat messages, but you must also set up an alert if you want to be notified of requests for help.

Alerts

Alerts can be raised:

  • when you're under attack
  • when a Jabber ping goes out from directorbot (need a quick strat pap?)
  • when someone begs for help in Delve911 (help your fellow bees!)
  • in other places too

Assets

RIFT also has the capability to search all of your assets across all characters. This is very handy if you've lost something...
